So, to aid quality education, various government and private institutes offer scholarships, so that financial issues can’t be the barrier for higher studies.
These Indian scholarships for medical students are based on the merits of the students, the annual income of their families and scores of the previous classes.
List of Scholarship For Medical Students
1. Nationwide Education and Scholarship Test
The 24th Nationwide Education and Scholarship Test (NEST) is a national level scholarship test performed for science stream students. Students who are studying in class – IX, X, XI, and XII are eligible to apply for the registration process and the mode of examination is going to be online. To fill the application, you need to visit the official website of NEST i.e. nest.net.in. To get this benefit, the applicant must be a student of MBBS/BDS/BAMS/BHMS and a student of class – XII of Science streams.
The qualified student will be rewarded with the tuition fee of maximum INR 50,000.
2. All India Scholarship Entrance Exam (AISEE)
AISEE is a national level merit-based scholarship entrance exam for Medical and Engineering Studies candidates in India. Through its program, AISEE has fueled dreams of more than 2 lakh talented engineering and medical students of India since its initiation.
This scholarship provides benefits for higher education to those students who wish to get aid in their higher studies.
The AISEE exam conducting board is registered with the Ministry of Finance act 1994 under the central excise department of India. The main aim of the AISEE Scholarship program is to provide financial assistance to the meritorious engineering and medical students through the AISEE examinations.
AISEE has launched two scholarship programs-
1. AISEE 2020 Scholarship for medical and Engineering.
2.AISEE-2020 Open Book Scholarship for medical and engineering aspirants.
The exam will be usually conducted in April and May. The AISEE exam will be conducted all across India and the examination will be conducted in Online mode (Computer Based Test) only. Based on the candidate score in the AISEE examination, the scholarship will be funded to the respective students.

3. Vahani Scholarship
It is a non-profit foundation in New Delhi for an economically weaker section. It invites students to enrol in the scholarship exam. It is the genuine platform for the meritorious students of class XII who want to pursue their higher studies in the top university in India. This scheme is designed to fulfil the dream education of a brilliant student and provide them with financial support.
20 candidates will be selected for the scholarship and they are rewarded with full tuition fees for UG course.
4. The All India Pre-Medical Scholarship Test
The main aim of this scheme is to encourage the deserving and talented students of economically poor background to pursue a medical degree. It is one of the important medical entrance scholarship examinations in India and it provides a platform to all MBBS/BDS/BAMS/BHMS/BUMS aspirants by granting them scholarship on qualifying. It is a merit-based scholarship, conducted on a national level every year.
This scheme will provide a full tuition fee for 4 years to pursuing medical courses in any participating colleges to 500 students, securing 85 % or more marks in AIPMST.
5. Bharati Scheme for Education (BSE), Andhra Pradesh
This scheme is applicable for Brahmin students of Andhra Pradesh, covering all the 13 districts. This scheme is available for the students from 1st standard to Post Graduation. This scholarship provides financial support to Brahmin students to encourage them to continue their education.
6. Combined Counselling Board Scholarship
This scheme reserves up to 10-20% seats in different course and branches of leading institutes of India and offers them to talented and brilliant children who are financially challenged. The motive of the scheme is to reduce the stress, parents have to take due to the high fee structure of the colleges and multiplicity of entrance exams.
This scheme is being offered by the Combined Council Board, India. The Welfare Department of CCB takes care of admission of the qualified candidates under the scholarship scheme in its member colleges.
7. BHEL-FAEA Scholarship
BHEL-FAEA fellowship is offered by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) to applicants from socially and economically weaker backgrounds in the category of Below Poverty Line (BPL) who are pursuing graduation.
The TATA group in association with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited(BHEL) took the initiative as FAEA-BHEL Scholarship for the benefit of the poor society with the help of paying their graduation level expenditures.
8. Vijayalakshmi R.L. Jalappa Scholarship
The motive of this scheme is to provide financial support to the students who want to pursue their higher studies.
Vijayalakshmi R.L Jalappa Foundation offers a fellowship for students studying in PUC, Diploma, ITI, Any Degree, B.E., BVSC, B.PHARMA, BHMS, BDS, MBBS, Any Master Degree, MVSC, M.PHARMA.
9. HDFC Educational Crisis Scholarship
The motive of the fellowship is to provide assistance to these students, to support a difficult situation without adverse impact on their education.
This fellowship is being offered by HDFC bank under the Educational Crisis Scholarship Support programme. HDFC Bank has announced this scheme for students who are economically challenged and are victims of the crisis in their family.
10. Swami Dayanand Education Foundation Merit-cum-Means
The foundation aims to provide these benefits to about 200 students so that they can get a good education at the graduation level. This programme is provided by the Government of West Bengal. In this scheme, the rewarded amount is up to INR 8000 per month.
