NTSE Exam Pattern

The pattern of written examination will be as follows:

  • Stage-I Examination at the State/ UT level will comprise of two parts, namely:
  • Mental Ability Test (MAT)
  • Language Test (LT)
  • Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)

NTSE Stage 1 and Stage 2 Pattern

  • Exams at the States/UT level will comprise of two types of papers held in two stages i.e.
  • Paper-I: Mental Ability Test (MAT) – Total no. of questions is 100; 100 No. of Marks; Duration: 120 Minutes
  • Paper-II: Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) – No. of questions is 100; No. of Marks is 100; Duration is 120 Minutes.
  • There will be no negative marking in State-II examination
  • Qualifying marks for students from General Category are 40% in each paper and for students from SC, ST and PH is 32% in each paper.
  • Language Test Qualifying in nature and marks obtained for Language Test will not be counted for final merit.

Ideally, preparation for NTSE must begin right from Class 9 as certain portions of CBSE Class 9 syllabus too are included in the NCERT syllabus.

NTSE Results

NTSE result for students who qualified the Stage 1 and are shortlisted for the Stage 2 of NTSE examination. The NTSE exam for stage 2 will include MAT, SAT, and the NTSE Result will include the marks scored by candidates in these sections.
